We Are Ready
We see you, Winter.
We see you sneaking back into Lewisburg under the cover of darkness to drop a little of the fluffy white stuff to make sure we all know you’re still around. We see you in your sparkly splendor, and we appreciate all the things about you that are so beautiful–how the pristine white of your snowfall shows off the most glorious red of our neighborhood cardinals (because is there a more profoundly affecting and lovely red anywhere??) and how you inspire us to sip cider with our besties and wander around town in our favorite knitted finery and our puffiest of coats. We know, Winter, that you are for cuddling and closeness and hot drinks and holiday celebrations–and we love all these things, truly we do–but we are ready for the fresh shoots and colorful flowers of spring. We are ready for the unfurling of new life and the return of all the warmth and greenery we’ve missed. So, you stay just a little while longer, Winter, and have the last of your fun, and then, as the saying goes, 𝕕𝕠 𝕟𝕠𝕥 𝕝𝕖𝕥 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕕𝕠𝕠𝕣 𝕙𝕚𝕥 ‘𝕪𝕒.
Until next year, Winter.
And hurry up, Spring.
𝙒𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮.
