Celebrating Arbor Day
We know this is a little late (life was extremely… life-y this past week π ), but we wanted to extend a big THANK YOU to everyone who ignored the rain last weekend and came out to support our tree planting event! You all made this such a fun day for us, and we are grateful for you! Shoutout to our friends at the Lewisburg Borough, Citizens’ Electric Company, and Lewisburg Neighborhoods. We owe the ongoing successful care of our borough shade trees to our partnerships with you. We’re also grateful to Lewisburg mayor, Kendy Alvarez, who, besides joining us to read an Arbor Day proclamation, also somehow let us convince her to do the manual labor of covering the new tree’s roots with dirt while we all just π΄π΅π°π°π₯ π’π³π°πΆπ―π₯ π’π―π₯ πΈπ’π΅π€π©π¦π₯. Okay, okay, no: We only asked her to drop in ONE symbolic shovelful, which, to be honest, might have just been because we weren’t smart enough at the time to think about trying to get her to do the whole thing. π (JK, KENDY.)
Thank you all, again, for celebrating with us both another Arbor Day and the start of our THIRTY-EIGHTH year as a #TreeCityUSA. To quote one small part of the Arbor Day proclamation, “treesβwherever they are plantedβare a source of joy and spiritual renewal” and all citizens should “plant trees to gladden the heart.”
We hope that throughout its life this new black gum tree will gladden all your hearts as much as ours were gladdened to plant it with you in our lovely borough. π³ππ³π
